Community Service & Volunteer Efforts

The name Mission Barbers isn't simply a name that we found catchy--it's emblematic of how we feel about ourselves and our connection to the community of Gilbert and Chandler. We believe that we have a mission to give back to the very same community that has given so much to us and our families. Because of this mission, Mission Barbers is always looking for ways that we can use our talents to give back and support others in meaningful volunteer opportunities.

If you have a volunteer opportunity that you would like to share with us, give us a call at (480) 477-4232.

Below are just a few of the local community service and volunteer efforts that Mission Barbers has been blessed to be a part of.

Featured on Arizona’s Family

Mission Barbers was recently highlighted by Arizona Family for participating in training focused on recognizing and responding to mental health crises within the barbershop setting. The feature shared how local barbers are learning to better support clients who may be struggling, reinforcing the important role barbershops can play as trusted spaces within the community.

Suicide Prevention & Youth Support with the Semicolon Society

Mission Barbers sponsored a Tuesday Talks event hosted by the Semicolon Society, created as a follow-up to their Suicide Prevention Vigil. The free monthly sessions bring parents and guardians together with professionals to discuss the impact of trauma and mental health on youth and the adults who support them. Each gathering provides space for connection, access to resources, and a shared community meal. Events like this help strengthen local families and remind our community that no one has to face challenges alone.

First Responder Mental Health Fundraiser with Heal the Hero Foundation

Mission Barbers partnered with Heal the Hero Foundation to help raise funds for first responders and military members facing stress, trauma, and PTSD. Mission Barbers donated 5% of all revenue during the week of the event to the organization, and customers were invited to give directly. The initiative was inspired by a high school senior project led by Maya Peña, daughter of owner Frandy Peña, and reflected the shop’s commitment to supporting those who serve our community.

Downtown Chandler World Suicide Prevention Day Vigil with the Semicolon Society

Mission Barbers joined Semicolon Society and other local businesses in hosting the first Downtown Chandler World Suicide Prevention Day Gathering and Vigil at the Chandler Community Center. The evening brought the community together for speakers and discussions on suicide loss, recovery, and prevention, live music from teen mental-health band Zero Reasons, art activities, a resource expo, and a candlelight vigil to honor those lost. The event created a space for remembrance, hope, and open conversation around mental health in our community.

Sunshine Acres Children’s Home

At least quarterly, Mission Barbers visits our local orphanage, Sunshine Acres Children's Home, spending time with the kids and cutting their hair. We love this opportunity to reach out to these great kids and give them a boost of confidence in themselves with a great new cut. It's one of the most rewarding events that we participate in.

Cuts for a Cause

This was one of our favorite events.  We gathered several barbers from different shops and held an event at a brewery. We cut hair for the public, had food catered and crafts brews.  100% of the donations went towards Mental Health and Suicide Prevention for Vets.  We raised enough money to send 2 Veterans to a Holistic Therapy Retreat Center.

Cuts for the Homeless

For Thanksgiving 2021, Mission Barbers was blessed with the opportunity to provide haircuts to approximately 150 beautifully hearted people.

While we were able to give so many haircuts, we truly felt like we were blessed as we met so many great individuals who touched our lives in countless ways with their stories, their laughs, their smiles, and their hearts.
